BURRIS TIRES ONLY AT THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP
ATTENTION AKRA STATE QUALIFIERS/PARTICIPATANTS
SPECIAL NOTE: No more than 40 lbs may be added to a kart for the purpose of moving to the next adult class to qualify for the state event unless the participating track does not offer the lower weight. If the participating track offers the class, the karter MUST qualify through that class. If a participant does move up to qualify due to participating track NOT offering the lower weight, that participant WILL ENTER THE CORRECT LOWER WEIGHT at the state event. If this situation takes place, AKRA will allow the 4th place finisher in that situation to qualify providing the 4th place finisher is weight appropriate.
The cutoff date for points will be either the last week of August or the first week of September. To be decided. In the event of a tie, there will be a tie breaker. Because the purpose of this event is to support the local tracks, the first tie breaker will be the number of events participated in.
Allow me to further clarify as I am getting questioned about the 40 lbs. Let's use the light clone as an example. Weight is 340lbs. Driver and kart is 275lbs. Driver needs to add 65lbs to make the 340 class. That is allowed. That driver is not allowed to add more weight to move to the medium class. Same goes for the medium to heavy class. If a medium 375 class driver wants to race in the heavy 410 class he is not allowed to add more than 40 lbs to the kart. If he needs to add more than 40lbs he must stay in mediums.
“Pa. AKRA Dirt Track State Championship”
Mission Statement # 1: To provide the local dirt tracks with a program designed to create growth.
Mission Statement # 2: To provide the karter an opportunity to achieve a goal for their weekly efforts.
AKRA recognizes that not every karter has the opportunity to race in an event that allows them to shine and therefore would like to give them that opportunity by offering the following event:
AKRA will crown a “Pa. State Champion” through qualifying from a local dirt track that the karter chooses to participate at. For the karter to qualify, he/she must participate in 80% of the “scheduled ran” events at a local track or, due to weather conditions, a cutoff date to be assigned by AKRA.
AKRA will qualify the top three (3) points winners from each of the individual tracks points system. In the event there is a discrepancy as to a qualifier, AKRA will review the discrepancy and make the decision based on what is best for the karting event. In the event of a qualifier not able to make the show, AKRA reserves the right to replace a karter with another whatever the circumstance.
To qualify for the main event, karters and tracks must follow the AKRA engine rules and Burris or open tire rule. Each participant shall become an AKRA member by the date to be set by the AKRA. Membership fees will be set a minimum cost of $30.00. That fee will include: membership for one (1) adult, one (1) minor participant, and one (1) associate. If there is no minor, the membership will be for one (1) adult and one (1) associate. Minors will need a release form completed.
Tracks participating will forward results weekly to Yours truly ( Don Gordner ) for record keeping.
Classes offered will be: Clone Lite; Clone Heavy; Junior Purple (10 to 12) cage and non cage; Junior Blue (12 to 15) cage and non cage. Weights to be announced. Karter may only represent one (1) class.
AKRA is currently considering the entry fee for the main event to be $30.00. Pitt pass to be $10.00. Subject to change to a lower Entry fee dependent upon sponsorship money for the awards. Any money collected will be used for expenses and awards.
The main event location is not currently available due to a last minute decision to hold this event and tracks already having their schedules designed. However, there are other ways to make it happen and the sticks are in the fire so to speak. AKRA would like to make the main event in a central Pa. area so all involved would have close to the same traveling expenses.
This event is not designed as a money maker. Quite the opposite. AKRA is attempting to give back to the karter that supports their local track by keeping the cost down to participate.
Please keep in mind that this is a pilot program to determine if there would be growth in the future. The above information is a starting point. There could be questions arise that may force a change in some things or additions to others. If that is the case, AKRA will stay in touch with all involved so we are all on the same page.
